Is it time to get out of your relationship? Does it feel like you’re only staying in a toxic relationship because of anxiety or fear that you’re going to be alone?! These are the signs that can help you identify that you are desperately hanging on to a relationship that is already over —
1. Faking Happiness. Do you feel like you are faking a smile to put on a front to family and friends that everything is okay? That can become extremely exhausting and set you up for a breakdown in the near future. You may find yourself just running through the motions and not actually enjoying the time you’re spending with your partner.
2. Fear. Fear that you don’t want to be alone or start over with someone else. It may fill you with anxiety to know that you need to start fresh with someone new and there may not be time – so instead, you just stay in your relationship so you won’t need to take the risk.
3. Obligation. Maybe you have kids, or a lease together so you feel like you can’t leave without things getting messy. Those things can be sorted out if it means that you can lead a healthier lifestyle.
Make an evaluation of your relationship and your day to day life. What does your partner bring to your life? What are you bringing to theirs? Do you find yourself happier or more upset when you’re with your partner?
