As I am sure that many of you are aware, the Fifty Shades Darker movie is scheduled to release on February 10th! That is just a few weeks away. I have always been a huge fan of the books, daydreaming about Christian Grey but, what happens when you are with a man that prefers BDSM? Would you be comfortable with an “arrangement”?

Although the situation in the books and movies are a bit extreme, BDSM relationships DO exist in the real world. The question is, are being carried out in a healthy way for both individuals?

Whether you are the Dom or Sub, you need to know WHAT it’s too much and WHEN things have gone too far. If at any point in time you realize that your partner is taking advantage of your vulnerability – talk about it. If after having a talk about your safety and mental/physical wellbeing that it seems your partner has not changed their ways, you may have found yourself in an abusive relationship. Don’t feel guilty for not giving your partner what they want if you are uncomfortable or feel that you are being taken advantage of.

Remember — experimenting or consenting to BDSM play, it does not have to be indefinitely. Think about yourself and your safety first.
