Q: When is it safe to share last names and workplaces? I feel unsafe after meeting someone to share that because as a homeowner it is too easy to find out information regardless of how hard I try to protect my privacy online. I have met people who also won’t share last names and workplaces so I can’t find out if they are truly single.

A: You need do an initial meet-n-greet first for about 20 mins to get to know the person and get a feel for them. If you feel comfortable and there is chemistry there, then go out on a longer first date, but meet in public and drive separate cars. With that being said, if you are not willing to give out any personal information on yourself, then why would the other person feel obligated to do so? You’re putting walls up and they can feel it. You’re being hypocritical. You want information on this person, yet you do not want to give any information out about yourself. What do you have to hide? You should only give out information when you feel comfortable with that person and have met them in the flesh, yet just realize they will only share as much as you are willing to as well.
