Q: Instead of dating is it a good idea to start out as friends?

A: I believe that you should go into meeting someone new with an open mind, especially if it’s from online dating. Don’t view each date or meet-n-greet as that person being you’re future wife/ husband. Instead think of it as expanding your social circle. Be honest with yourself if you are just looking for friendship or dating material. You don’t want to get stuck in the friend-zone. Have the initial short meet-n-greet with an open mind, yet if you are interested in them romantically, let them know. Don’t just stay as friends if you want more because then that’s not truly representing your desires. You should be able to tell within one or two meetings if you wish to pursue that person for a relationship.
