david-good-bachelor-padI had the wonderful opportunity to meet David Good last night at my Valentine’s Day Book Launch party in Tampa Bay. Being a very nice, down-to-earth guy, he came out to support my second book “10 Rules to Survive the Internet Dating Jungle”. So I took the opportunity to get the inside scoop on what really happens on the popular dating shows.

David first appeared on The Bachelorette Season 5 where he competed for the heart of Jillian Harris, but got eliminated in the fourth week of competition. He made his reality TV show come back on the first season of The Bachelor Pad, where he along with contestant Natalie Getz, won the grand prize.

David states that behind the scenes of The Bachelorette he really do not get much time with Jillian. In four episodes he only had about 20 minutes in reality with her. Not much time to get to know someone. He did not though actually get a one-on-one date to spend more time with her. He said that within these shows it’s like dating on high speed. Since time is of the essence, you have to tell someone everything about you all at once. Versus in real life, where you would take time divulging such details.

I’ve noticed a lot of people on these shows claim they “love” the person they are competing for. I myself thought that would be hard to proclaim your love for someone you barely know, David feels the same way. He says that saying “I love you” is a serious thing and wouldn’t be able to say that unless he really meant it. However, he stated many of these girls on the shows do feel immense emotions early on and are really heart broken when they are sent home. So all those tears we see are real for the most part.

The Bachelor Pad, however is a different story. He claimed its just one big drunk fest. I think we can all agree to that just from watching the shows. Ed Swiderski was on Season 1 and 3 of The Bachelor Pad and is notorious for getting drunk and skinny dipping. I had a lot of readers who follow my blog wanting to know how “big Ed’s thing is”, well we got confirmation that it is decent size! So there you have it ladies.

Another interesting fact is these ceremonies for The Bachelor Pad sometimes go all throughout the night, since you have 30 some contestants in the beginning. David said one of the rose ceremonies went until 8am! Ed almost passed out standing up for that long. So now it makes sense when I watched it various times seeing Ed swaying back and forth. That’s a long time to stand waiting for a rose!

So what is David Good up to now? About a year ago he published a book, “The Man Code, A Woman’s Guide to Cracking the Tough Guy.” After a year long exhausting book tour, he said that he is thinking of going back to The Bachelor Pad. So we will wait and see if David can go back and conquer the TV reality show a second time around!
