I was a sponsor for a local Lock n’ Key event in Tampa last weekend. I had never attended one of these events, but jumped at the chance to be a sponsor for one. There were about 100 people who attended that Friday night. It was a little bit chilly outside in Florida, yet that didn’t seem to damper anyone’s mood.
The concept of the Lock n’ Key event is that the women get a lock and the men get a key. Then you go around and test your locks n keys to see which ones open. If you lock and key are a match you both get a raffle ticket at the end of the night. You can also exchange your lock/ key for new ones. So after you have tested all the locks, you get a new key and more chances to win more prizes.
It’s a great concept as an ice-breaker to speak to men and women. I guess these events were around many years ago and are now just making a comeback. I had a great time talking to people and it seemed less awkward versus some of the Match Stir events. It gives you a reason to go up and talk to someone. If your lock doesn’t work and you’re not really into the person, you can politely excuse yourself to go try someone else lock. Plus the more locks you open the more chance you have at winning prizes!
My experience from attending Match Stir, POF Hook-a-Fish & Lock-n-Key Events; I like the Lock-n-Key the best. The quality of people was much better, the vibe was good and the mood was overall positive. I had a blast & I think you will too!
Events run from $22-$32 per person. Currently in Tampa they only have them about once a month. You can sign up on www.lockandkeyevents.com and find an event near you!
